Re: My first building/plugin

Nice idea! I like that movie :) You want to be mindful of some things, though: 1) perspective: Your straights are not straights but curves. In isometric perspective straights parallel to the ground are drawn like a staircase with each stair 2px wide. 2) You should get rid of these outlines, make the...

Palms and Bushes UPDATE by mdk_813

Hi folks, I've created some simple palms and bushes for the terrain menu. The plugin adds two new entries to the terrain menu, which each include a randomizer as well as several single or grouped palms/bushes to choose directly. It basically works like the in-game trees in the same menu. Please note...

Re: Please remove this message - I'm not a hacker

What do you think? How should we handle such people and is there any reason to remove the hacked message? I don't see a reason to remove the message. I assume the message was implemented precisely for that purpose, wasn't it, to spoil the fun for hackers? It seems like it's pretty successful in that.

Re: Adding an entry to the landscape menu?

You have to cycle through until you get the dice image again. The in game trees use four frames for each tree which are used for wind animation effects. No, in the menu there is no option to cycle through. No blue arrows and no dice. Just the one preview of the last png. And that is what is build e...

Re: Adding an entry to the landscape menu?

With multiple frames per tree you can animate it without much effort. Hm, I don't get it. I want one entry in the menu, which allows me to choose between these 7 options: 1) a randomizer that cycles through all 6 pngs below automatically 2) Palmtree_A_transp_1x1.png 3) Palmtree_B_transp_1x1.png 4) ...

Re: Adding an entry to the landscape menu?

Also, "Palmtree_group_A_transp_1x1.png" and "bmp":"Palmtree_group_B_transp_1x1.png" consist of three palms each in one png. I don't now if this needs to be taken into account or not...

Re: Adding an entry to the landscape menu?

So, I've tried it, and at least I was partially successful. The palms appear as an entry in the terrain menu, BUT, it does not randomize or give me any options to choose. Instead, it just shows the last bmp that I put into "frames". Here is the code I've used: [ { "id":"Palmtrees.mdk_813", "type":"t...

Re: Adding an entry to the landscape menu?

Holy, I expected it would be complicated and I really can't' quite follow. I get that I must provide my own ID and images, that's alright. And I mostly get that I can provide 4 images of 32px (with different tree-models each?) or one large 128px image. But, what I don't get is, what you mean by "You...

Adding an entry to the landscape menu?

Hey there, I got another question. Probably a complicated one: Is there a way to add an entry to the landscape menu that works like the trees (ideally with a randomizer and options to choose certain models)? I'm currently working on a modular park set and this includes palmtrees, of which I also mad...

Re: Night and day

I don't think an overlay is necessary and it will probably increase the amount of texture space that's used by a considerable amount. As I've said, you could restrict the special night textures to the most prominent buildings and the streets while leaving most of the smaller buildings untouched. Th...

Although it's not necessary, it would be convenient to have that show up in the load menu.
I agree, you wouldn't need to actually load the map to see the seed.

Re: display map seeds in "load city" dialogue

Hi, It would be nice, if the map seeds were displayed in the "load city" dialogue along with name, size, population etc., so that you can re-use map designs which you liked. Also, it would help in sharing nice looking maps within the community, because right now, the seed is lost as soon as you sta...

Re: Night and day

Or actually think and take night effect from thunderstorm and remove the rain. Almost no work Just turning the map dark blue would look strange, I think. Then you would have night but also a dead city. What we need is a yellow overlay on some of the windows (that has to look random) and on the stre...

Re: Night and day

Guys it's because of the work for god sake. This would mean every single building in the game would have to be edited with windows shine and light. Making the game laggy, taking months of work and taking up space that would be used for more buildings. Or actually think and take night effect from th...

Re: Make a map with only sand

Yes, I think there is, but it would be nice to have that option already built into the game's "new city" dialogue, so that you don't have to juggle around with plugins or turning a whole map to sand manually in the game. Personally, I would like to build a modern desert city like Dubai etc. That cou...

Re: Learn Isometric Pixel Art Thread

So here are my tipps on some of the basic pixeling mistakes: - out of scale plugins (I did that one, too): People in TT are 3 pixels high, that's the scale of reference. You can go slightly higher at times, but not by much! - using too bright and WAY, WAY, WAAAAYYYY too saturated colors: In my eyes ...

Re: Learn Isometric Pixel Art Thread

I really don't think this is a bad idea. Because even though there are countless tutorials out there and also a basic tutorial on here, it seems like 9 out of 10 people trying to contribute are making the same basic beginner mistakes. But, I don't see the problem in isometric pixeling but in pixelin...
