Is it possible to link 2 regions with roads/rails/metro lines, etc?

I do wonder if it is possible. Because then you can realistically link your regions to form a country instead of having to link them by airports. If it is not possible, devs please add them in to the game because it would be realistic and fun.

you can connect water, electric and roads and they will be functional but not sure about others

Yes, you can link roads, rails, metros to your other city in your region, but your topic title confuses me tho.

Unfortunately, that's impossible to link road, rail, metro lines in different regions.
