Aquiwa and Maqueni, the world's most confusing communities.
Aquiwa and Maqueni, the world's most confusing communities.
Aquiwa and Maqueni (or Acamacque as it is known by natives) are two communities located on an island called Alluviea (or Acamacque). Collectively, they have a population of 8,592 Acamanders (demonym). Despite sharing an island, the two towns couldn't be more different culturally.

Aquiwa is the older, larger, and more modern of the two towns. It was made as a trading post for Rullego merchants, so they may reach the East quicker. It holds the island's only port of entry (Port St Michael) and the Island's County Hall. Due to most of the island's important facilities being headquartered on the 'Ack Side', most Macks claim that the Acquenaires are trying to belittle them.

Maqueni is the smaller, and poorer of the two. It was made as a shantytown at first, but more people coming to the city made it increasingly more independent from Aquiwa, to the point where it refused to even view itself as part of the City of Aquiwa. Rather than let them go however, Aquiwa refused to view Maqueni as merely more than its ghetto even to this day.

(Also just as reference, communities are a term used in the country Aquiwa and Maqueni are a part of for in simplest terms, 'sub cities ’ or cities inside of cities (kind of like the boroughs of New York). Also Rullegoes ( roo•yeh•gowe) are a people group I made up)

Anyway, the newly created Acamacque Power Authority has decided to create a new hydroelectric dam next to Port St Michael. After this, the communities of Aquiwa and Maqueni will, for the first time be connected as Maqueni is running out of power. This comes months after a new sewage system forced the two to connect their water pipes.

To the island's southern shores, you will find large mangrove ecosystems protected by the government. Currently, there is no way by road to get there other than the port, so tourists are advised to traverse the greenery with a tour guide if they want to get there.
What do you mean these palms and bushes aren't mangroves?
