I can answer no. 1: Yes I think...
Because when I checked Theo's YT account he had a Terraria like game..

Yes, but most of them had never been finished.
- Theos Space Shooter - was playable, perhaps you can find it via Google
- Escape from blocky planet - a Terraria like game. Stopped working on it in favor of TheoTown
- Theos Tank War, a simple 3D Tankgame, was never finished, but someone made an upload to a freegame site 
- some simple card games
- some more space shooter projects
- a simple jump´n run
...and several tries to make a city building game (2D/3D)

My wife likes the FC Schalke 04, but i do not like football very much.

- in 1982 we used to play Smithereens on the Atari 2600 (a catapult like game)
- on the C64 we used to play Barbarian or Bundesliga-Manager
- on my beloved Amiga 500 we used to play Battle-Isle, History-Line 1914-18, BubbleBobble, StreetFighter II, KickOff,
Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge 1/2, Nuclear War, BattleChess, FirePower, Populous (first game i played via an acoustic coupler, a precursor of a data modem), Lemmings, IK+, The Chaos Engine, Stunt Car Racer (via Nullmodem cable), DynaBlaster, The Settlers (i love building games), Tanxx...and much more
- on the PC during the 90ths we used to play games via LAN like Command&Conquer, Age of Empires I/II, Car&Driver (via Nullmodem cable), Civilization II, BattleIsle II, The Settlers II/III, Anno 1602/1503 and much more

Oh, i played GTA a lot.
But question was about childhood games together with my friends and about my favourite games.
Sometimes i am playing GTA V, but is not half the fun of GTA Vice City a few years ago.
I finished GTA 2 / GTA III / GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas (nice city but boring gameplay).
GTA IV had a corrupt save file after round about 80% of the game
Outrun is an driving game. The first i played on the Amiga 500. It is based on the game from an 80ths arcarde machine.
