Customise the rules of the game

#1

Post by Victastico » 13 Sep 2024, 02:06

It came to me recently that there are several gameplay bits that I myself do not enjoy as much (the graveyard services most in specific), when thinking through it I realised that it would be cool to be able to costumise, or at least have the option to disable certain gameplay bits in game.
Think about it, in SimCity classic we didn't have to worry about graveyards, water service, garbage collection and so on; it would be cool to be able to disable some of those services if one wishes to have a simpler experience!

Below are just some examples of the rules we could set before we started a city or a region:
  • Enable/Disable water services
  • Enable/Disable graveyard services
  • Enable/Disable fireman services (also would stop the fire disaster)
  • Enable/Disable police services (also would stop crime in a city and the riot disasters)
  • Enable/Disable riots without disabling crime
  • Enable/Disable garbage services
  • Enable/Disable health services (also would stop epidemic disaster
  • Enable/Disable education services (would make it so schools aren't necessary for richer people population)
In my idea energy services are still a mandatory aspect of the game and can not be turned off, though the possibility of doing so would be funny to experiment with.
I know it may sound a bit silly, but think about it! Being able to set your own rules in a city or in a whole region could open opportunities for the game to feel more customisable, instead of rules to disable services — for the people who are not sure about that idea — perhaps there could be rules to disable the city rank system or options to enhance to game for those who want to diversify and explore the possibilities of creating a challenge for themselves.

Alternative to the rules proposed:
  • Enable/Disable increasing prices for all buildings and constructions (option for those who want a more challenging game)
  • Enable/Disable increasing prices for parks and decoration
  • Enable/Disable waiting for construction of city buildings
  • Enable/Disable fire/riot/epidemic disaster(s)
  • Enable/Disable city rank system
  • Enable/Disable bulding wait for all buildings in game (for residential, commercial, industrial, etc)
Those are just some ideas that popped into my mind while I played, I dunno, I just think they sound cool.

I think this is already in the game as uber mode that you can get for diamonds i'm also pretty sure that if you don't want to spend diamonds then you can download some plugin from the forum for free that fills the map with waste disposal health and a bunch of other stuff it only works in sandbox mode though.

Great idea, Victastico! Customizing gameplay rules would definitely add a lot of replayability and make the game more accessible to different play styles. Whether you're in the mood for a chill creative session or a hardcore management challenge, having those toggle options could be a game-changer. Hope the devs consider something like this in future updates!
