Hi there, newbie here
Hello everyone, I just started playing TheoTown today. Can someone explain the basics of the game to me? I completed the tutorial but still have a bit of trouble understanding the game.

Im a noob too and also busy finding my way around. Up until now i only learn through trial & error, figuring stuff out etc. Basic thing to keep in mind is keeping your citizens happy. You can click on the emoji at the top which will show you areas that need to be worked on as well as where youre doing well.
Another thing, youll notice the menu items have info icons. Clicking on them is generally pretty useful to learn about the item.
When you get emergency alert like fires, epidemics and crimes, its also a good idea to put up a building for that particular emergency to avoid them recurring in the same place
Lastly, especially if you're very new, sandbox mode is recommended. You dont need to make money and everything is unlocked from the start unless you have to meet a prerequisite.
Have fun neighbour!

Veteran here since 2019.
I would say don't focus on aesthetics yet, focus on making a good city that functions.

When i first played i focused on aesthetics. I remember learning the basics in just about a day, only learning about how to improve the level of residential buildings really late.
Anyways back to the topic, yeah just do what PixelDubs said, aesthetics can always be done later, while a functioning city is really nescecary.

Re: Hi there, newbie here
experiment on city ideas and stuff in sandbox mode, then after that try playing on middle then working up to hard if you feel like it (easy mode is so pointless tbh)
when you finally master the basics, try downloading Plug-ins from the store and forum, try getting essential stuff first such as residential buildings with more space, public transportation etc
when you've reached the absolute end-game of TT, try downloading more complex Plug-ins such as Mew's Advanced Road, and generally just experiment with new stuff until you get bored
(p.s. enable experimental features for more Plug-in texture space)
