You wouldn't understand because you may not be knowing indiscrimination and tolerance. Bengal was another place with religious tolerance, they were more focused on trade and production than fighting. Well, the opposite of that happened here, the muslims broke the hindu, jain and buddhist places of worship. They were brutal. Yet places like Gujarat and Bengal were tolerant. You wouldn't understand any of that.
