Power line problem

I placed the power lines (forget what they're actually called) on a hill and this happened.

There should be eight "squares" between each "tower", but the problem is that these "towers" are not spread out at all on the hill.

I'm sure that's because the line is on the slope and not atop the hill. If it were a road, it wouldn't build on that line.
