If you think that just look at LA's interchanges...(yeah,there are some perfect ones but they don't generally build them in that way...)
I believe designs like these are realistic...

Which specific LA interchange are you talking about?
It depends on the location of the interchange.
For example, this interchange is designed specifically to enter and exit an airport from a certain direction:

I dunno but I know that there is alot of badly designed interchanges in LA...
edit:Yeah ,you are right, for the airport interchanges but there is some awful ones in downtown LA.
