How to install
Download the .plugin, .ttplugin or .zip file and move it into the plugins folder of your TheoTown game folder:
  • Android - The game folder is located at Android/data/info.flowersoft.theotown.theotown/files which can also be accessed on the device itself by using Google's file explorer
  • iOS - The game folder is accessible as a virtual folder called "TheoTown" via iTunes after connecting the device. On the device itself you can use the Files app to access that virtual folder.
  • Desktop - The game data is stored in /Users/YourUsername/TheoTown
Another way is to navigate to the region view in the game->open game menu->File manager->plugins where you can import plugins manually by using the import function. After making changes you have to restart the game to see an effect.

Be careful with installing plugins manually. See this notice on the potential dangers of installing untrusted plugins.

Potato Power Plant

Post by ThaineXylon »

Of all things we could've done with a giant potato, we turned it to a power plant?!

Hello again! It's been a while. Sorry if I've been away because well, some preparations are needed to be made for the Civil Service Exam... Even on a summer vacation, a college student's obligation never seems to end.

Anyways, ticking of the checklist of a plug-in that I wanted to do for a long time, is a giant potato turned into a power plant of sorts. Tried to balance the price-to-output ration between solar panels and wind turbines.

Here's also the JSON in all of its glory...

Code: Select all    Reset

[ { "id": "$TX_Potato_Power_Plant", "title": "Potato Power Plant", "text": "A giant spud that powers the town. Slightly better between a solar panel and a wind turbine... Not sure how that works.", "author": "ThaineXylon", "ordinal": 5, "meta": { "pca": { "version": "4.4.2" } }, "frames": [ { "bmp": "potato_power.png", "w": 64, "count": 2 } ], "requirements": [ { "type": "RANK", "lvl": 5 } ], "price": 1750, "monthly price": 75, "power": 15000, "water": -500, "build time": 0, "width": 2, "height": 2, "needs road": false, "needs land": true, "conductive": true, "type": "energy" } ]

Now, that'll be all from me... I might not be able to do any more plug-ins at this point... I also somewhat felt a bit tired. For now, I'll be doing some important stuff as an incoming 4th year. I feel shaky with the times ahead, but all I could do is to keep moving forward somehow.

Existential crisis aside, this plug-in will also be posted to the store, so expect it coming in a few days (unless if the moderator denies it.) And speaking of the plug-in store, I also like to thank you for the 2.9K total downloads on my plug-ins and especially with the AvTT Pack!

Well, with that being said... Have a good day ahead, fellow users.

Edited it to stick with the 15Kw. Apparently, 75kW is too much.

Uhh... Nah, that's definitely a typo on my part.

... Unrelated news: The Potato Battery plug-in got rejected due to graphics not closely matching to TheoTown's aesthetics. Might need to work on the shading at some point.

Okay, just kidding... Anyways, hello again fellow users! Obviously, it's been a while since my hiatus from TheoTown... I was busy, got over the Civil Service Exam (results still ain't out yet) and FINALLY being able to work on an actual task on my group's capstone project! (Finally! I don't need to worry now that I have a part of our success of the task in my hands to control... Hoping to pass this semester!)

And with plenty of free time and a good headspace with relentless inspiration, I decided to try and (re)make a plug-in. Looks a lot better than the other one. Though, a bit bigger. (I forgot that the original size was 2x2, not 3x3... Welp!)

Speaking of a new look, the new Potato Power Plant also has new specs!
Fig 2: Oh look, a performance dial!

Plug-In Specifications
- Costs 2500 Theons on it's first build, monthly maintenance per unit is 500 Theons.
- Produces 15,000 kW of power (30,000 if driven its performance to 200%)
- Requires 1000L of water.
- Has a small influence of Nature by 12.
- Did I mention that this has a performance dial? (YES! I FINALLY DID IT!)
- Only has two frames of orientation.

Final Thoughts
By the time that this is posted, I have now submitted my renewed potato power plant plug-in. (Whoa, alliteration! Tubular!)

Apart from looking better than last time... I feel quite, happy... Happy to be back doing this for fun.

Oh and to note, this isn't basically me coming back to TheoTown full-time trying to make plug-ins almost everyday like I did last summer (I just got caught up in the excitement and fun of making plug-ins, not knowing how much effort it would take... But that's what makes it fun, right?) I still got tasks and other things to do and deal with, but I'd still come back here from time to time to post a plug-in, suggest ideas, read feedback, check some things out... The light, but fun stuff.

With that being said... I hope you're all doing well today/tonight, and I'd say I am too, at this moment.

So as usual, but sincerely... Have a great day ahead, fellow users! Good to see you again.
