Can buildings be larger than 8×8?

I am currently in the works for a secret project, and during my design, I thought for a bit that it would not fit in the 8×8 tile. I found a way to fit it anyways, but that brings be to my question: Is there a possibility for me to build a building bigger than 8×8?

Probably. Although in my opinion a building that is larger than 8x8 is a waste of plugin texture space.
