The Dugald Stewart Monument stands on Calton Hill, overlooking the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. It was commissioned by the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1830 as a memorial to the eponymous Scottish philosopher and mathematician, Dugald Stewart (1753–1828). Designed by Scottish architect William Henry Playfair, it was completed in 1831 and Category A listed in 1966. The monument, featuring nine Corinthian columns around an urn, was based upon the ancient Choragic Monument of Lysicrates in Athens, Greece.
