Notre-Dame Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris) is the cathedral, the episcopal seat of the Archdiocese of Paris, located on the Île de la Cité (in the middle of the Seine River) in Paris, France. It is a Catholic church typical of the Gothic architectural style, but the innovative use of vaulted and bayed vaults, stained glass windows and enormous stained glass combined with naturalism and rich sculptural ornamentation sets it apart from the earlier Romanesque architectural style.
