The former headquarters of the Ministry of Justice
(also known as the Red Brick Building) is located in Kasumigaseki, Tokyo. Built in 1895,
it is a representative work of German-style (Neo-Baroque) public architecture from the
Meiji era in Japan. After being damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake and air raids,
it was restored to its original appearance in 1994 and designated as an Important
Cultural Property of Japan. Now serving as a legal history exhibition space, its unique
exterior makes it a historical landmark in the modern Kasumigaseki office district.
