The Sumida Hokusai Museum, located in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, Japan, officially opened at the
end of 2016. Designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize-winning contemporary Japanese architect
Kazuyo Sejima, the building perfectly embodies her signature lightness, transparency, and fluidity.
Built to commemorate the ukiyo-e master Katsushika Hokusai, the museum presents a striking
contrast between its architecture and the traditional art on display.
