Hello,
yes...we are using an very old version of the phpBB2 forum software.
But these guys who are spamming our forum are real people
Because of the bots, i changed the php code of the standard registration process into a "customized one".
Bots can´t handle with it, or must be specially programmed for our forum (which is very unlikely).
It is always the same.
Someone registered as a new user with a fake name, then he/she is creating one or more posts and copied a very long commercial text into it.
When I notice it, i will delete the user and every post he made.
Some month ago i read a report about such people.
In some asian countries there are thousands of people who are earning their money with spamming commercials in forums all over the world
There is nothing you can do against it.
I do not think that an improved registration process will have any impact on this problem.
As long as there are people and no bots that register here, they come through every security question. Be it text to enter, calculating numbers or use of a CAPTCHA
We have to live with the problem
