City rotation/orientation (North-West-East-South)

Is there an objectively better game orientation for a city in TheoTown?
I have personally always favoured North-East rotation because that is how I built my first city so I have gotten used to it but sometimes I rotate my cities because they are islands or are simply on a location that makes NE rotation inconvenient, any thoughts or opinions on whether there is a "better" rotation to build realistic cities or its just up to personal preference.
