What methods do you use to find a good and creative city name?

#1

Post by Pallas42 »

For example, I first translate any word into a dead language (for example Latin). Then I change this word a little bit. And I finally have a city name!

Example: I translate the word "peaceful" into Latin. Then I change the Latin word "Pacificus" meaning "Peaceful" and get the word "Pesifuca". The name of my new city is ready: Pesifuca!

Using instagram followers cheap creatively can give a quick visibility boost, helping your account look more established for launching campaigns or products. Pair this with engaging content or interactive stories to encourage organic growth. It's a strategic way to gain momentum while focusing on building a loyal, active community.

One great idea is based on the theme of your city. If you want to build a central European city, use -burg at the end of your city's name, like Petersburg. If you want to build a canadian/american city, use names like NEW Windsor.

It's st. Petersburg, won't be terrible if we change the name a bit.

Well, in general, I choose the name as follows: first I try to come up with a name myself (like Beriysk, for example), if it doesn't work, then I generate it on the Internet and edit it (like Derposhiv, for example).

Generating ain't cool tbh, I like city names that you create yourself

Method 1
Find random objects and modify it into the city's language.
example:
Salsa, selmese-ized = Salsafii, Selma

Method 2
Find names for people and purely use that name or modify it and use it.
example:
Jafar, modified = Jaffaa, Selma
Rafif, with city prefix = Port Rafif, Dakab

Method 3
Do a typo on purpose and hope it turns out good, or at least as expected.
example:
What, typo-ed = Whqlat, Selma

here comes the bad methods!

Method 4
Ripoff names of other cities.
example:
Samarkand, ripoff-ed = Samarqand, Selma

note: only use this if you tried all the 4 methods above and still can't find a name
Method 5
Just use AI. If unsatisfied, modify a name off of AI.
example:
i dont have an example. sorry!

You might also type random letters on the keyboard and then edit it to make it sound good

I use a mix of names I associate with.
Jade which is my name after I have used ever since I came out as trans and non binary.
I used to associate with anything related to the show Battle for Dream Island, one of my old online regions is literally a PNG height map of Firey as seen below, I have started getting back into the show again after years.
I also mix with some British town names.
