Since version 1.12.47 heightmaps can also be defined as part of a plugin. Here's how that works.
Step 1: Obtain a heightmap image
First, you’ll need a heightmap image. In this example, I generated one for London using the following service: https://tangrams.github.io/heightmapper/
After exporting, I converted the image to a 512×512 JPG, which is more than sufficient for our purposes.
Step 2: Define the heightmap in JSON
Next, create a JSON file with the following content:
Code: Select all Reset
[ { "id": "$heightmap_london00", "type": "heightmap", "title": "London", "file": "london.jpg" } ]
JSON checker
Step 3: Use it in-game
Once the plugin is in the plugins folder, the heightmap will automatically become available when creating a new city or region in the game.
That’s it, your custom heightmap is now ready to use.
