The Barbican Estate is a renowned example of Brutalist architecture located in the heart of London, designed by architects Chamberlin, Powell, and Bon in the 1960s. This sprawling complex features a mix of residential towers, low-rise apartments, and communal spaces, all connected by elevated walkways and landscaped gardens. The estate is notable for its rugged concrete aesthetic, bold geometric shapes, and innovative urban design, which aims to create a self-contained community.

Vitra Design Museum is an excellent deconstrutivist building designed by Frank Gehry. Twisted forms created a poetic flow of space.

(You can follow me on REDnote, @O(PA)QUE ) The Viipuri Library, designed by Alvar Aalto in the 1930s, is a landmark of modernist architecture located in Vyborg, Russia (formerly Viipuri, Finland). Known for its innovative design, the library features undulating ceilings in the reading rooms, which enhance acoustics and create a sense of openness. One of the building's most iconic elements is the skylight system that floods the interior with natural light, providing a soft, even illumination throughout the reading spaces. Aalto’s use of organic forms and his focus on user experience make the Viipuri Library a celebrated example of functional and human-centered design.

Actually, this is just the entrance and ballroom of the Shenzhen Mandarin Oriental, the main part of it is in a almost 400 meter high building next to it. They belong to Shen Ye Upperhills Mixed-Use Development. The architecture is designed by SOM; it is in the shape of a gate, or a photo frame. This is one of my favourite architecture in Shenzhen.

The Ford Foundation building by Kevin Roche, completed in 1968 in New York City, is a modernist masterpiece featuring a unique integration of glass and steel with lush greenery. Its atrium redefines the relationship between architecture and nature, embodying transparency, openness, and the foundation's commitment to progressive values.

Designed by Herzog & de Meuron in collaboration with TFP Farrells and Arup, the building consists of a horizontal podium and a slender vertical tower, forming an inverted T shape. The expansive podium, elevated above the ground, houses 17,000 square meters of exhibition space, including 33 galleries, three cinemas, a multimedia center, learning spaces, and a rooftop garden with panoramic views of the harbor. The vertical tower accommodates the museum’s research center, offices, restaurants, and the M+ lounge on the 11th floor. An LED façade facing Victoria Harbour displays moving image artworks, visible from the West Kowloon Promenade and across the harbor on Hong Kong Island. The design allows visitors to enter from multiple points, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces.

I've addded a night animation. I am an arch student in Shenzhen, China. The Lever House is a great classic modernism building located in NY designed by SOM!
SOM is an arch firm experts in skyscrapers. Many of the famous skyscrapers are designed by it.

The Vitra Fire Station, designed by Zaha Hadid and completed in 1993, is an iconic example of deconstructivist architecture. Located in Weil am Rhein, Germany, this structure stands out with its bold, sculptural forms and dynamic lines. The building features a series of interlocking volumes that create a sense of movement, reflecting the energy of the fire service it houses. Its white concrete façade and angular rooflines contrast sharply with the surrounding landscape, embodying Hadid's innovative approach to form and space. The fire station not only serves a functional purpose but also acts as a landmark, showcasing the possibilities of modern architecture.

The Seagram Building, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Philip Johnson, is a landmark of International Style architecture. Completed in 1958, its minimalist design emphasizes clean lines and structural clarity. The building’s bronze-tinted glass façade and exposed bronze I-beams add warmth and subtle decoration, while luxurious materials like marble and brass enhance the lobby’s refined interior. Mies's approach of "less is more" is evident in the understated elegance of the design, including the open plaza with its minimalist landscaping and fountains. The Seagram Building remains a model of modern corporate skyscraper design.

Tadao Ando's Vitra Conference Pavilion is defined by its geometric forms and fair-faced concrete structure. The minimalist design guides visitors through a carefully designed entrance sequence, where a narrow, sheltered path heightens the anticipation of entering. As visitors approach, the smooth, intersecting concrete planes reveal themselves gradually, creating a sense of discovery, which is commonly used in China gardens. Light and shadow play along the surfaces, enhancing the pavilion’s serene yet dynamic character.

The most significant villa by Le Corbusier! One of the most calssical building among mordenism ones. There are a grassfield under it. The owner needed enough outdoor space.
