Shadow tutorial
lots of people get the shadow wrong so I will tell you how to get it right
Step one add the shadow!
add the shadow to the building it's simple
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_tutorial_1_1.png)
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_tutorial_2_1.png)
Adding the building shadow
This is a little bit more harder
First draw a line to the right from the bottom corner of the building
Like this
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_tutorial_3_1.png)
Then add the shadow
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_tutorial_4_1.png)
I just used red so it was more easier to see but at this point it should look like this
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_tutorial_5_1.png)
Bad Examples
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_bad_example_1_1.png)
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_bad_example_2_1.png)
Doors
making doors were hard for me at first but it's actually quite simple
This is wrong it looks werid
![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.png)
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_bad_example_3_1.png)
First Choose the height of the door
(I will recommend 4 pixels
![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.png)
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183426_1.jpg)
poke one pixel out of the top
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183436_1.jpg)
Next go one down and two to the right
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183439_1.jpg)
Next go one down and one pixel to the right
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183445_1.jpg)
Go straight down and boom you have a good looking door
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183449_1.jpg)
you can make the door any hieght and any lenght
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183510_1.jpg)
Now I will teach you how to make a cylinder
First choose the length
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183602_1.jpg)
Next add two pixels to both sides
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183617_1.jpg)
Next add one pixel to both sides
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183621_1.jpg)
Choose the hieght of the cylinder
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183639_1.jpg)
Do the same thing that you did at the bottom and do it on the top but lower it one pixel down
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183648_1.jpg)
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183700_1.jpg)
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183712_1.jpg)
Add a color
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423183726_1.jpg)
Now the shadows it's quite hard to explain
It should look something like that
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_tutorial_8_1.png)
It should become darker at the right and lighter at the left
Something like this (but don't make the colors change drastically I just made it like this because it's easier to see)
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423194125_1.jpg)
if you're going to add a label make sure it matches the shape and Shadow
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_tutorial_9_1.png)
How to make your buildings not look too cartoony
Replace the black lines with a light version of the color of your building
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423184506_1.jpg)
Make sure you change the brightness at the shadows
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_screenshot_20170423184529_1.jpg)
Don't change all of the black lines you might want to keep some the way they where
![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.png)
![Image](http://www.theotown.com/forum/userpix/1063_tutorial_10_1.png)
You should only change the black lines that are facing you
